Our Mission Statement
We will promote environmental responsibility and energy efficiency within the Town of Westborough while working in consultation with the Select Board, town committees and various town departments. With sensitivity to the most vulnerable residents and businesses in the community, we will recommend actions to reduce the community’s carbon emissions consistent with the Commonwealth’s climate goals and to minimize other environmental impact of the community. Proposals will be guided by the environmental and economic cost of actions and inaction.
Westborough Climate Action Plan
Westborough is committed to lower our greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) to Net Zero by 2050. The town developed 2021 Climate Action Plan (CAP) which defines a set of actions for the Town to help the community navigate this complex transition to a sustainable future. The CAP identifies the community’s three primary sources of GHG emissions: transportation, building energy and electricity generation which provide a roadmap for Sustainable Westborough and the focus of our programs. Sustainable Westborough plan is aligned with state level goals and will leverage Commonwealth’s programs for GHG reduction.
